1 Thomas FRITH ---------------------------------------- Occ: Framesmith (stocking frames). Reli: Church of England
Priory Row 1851 Census: Whole family described as stocking makers. The widowed Elizabeth aged 70, described
as pauper as well as a seamer. They lived at Priory Row and all natives of Hinckley . The old lady was presumably in receipt
of parish relief - hence her designation as pauper. Spouse: Elizabeth YATES Birth: 1771, Hinkley Leicester England
Death: 1857, Hinkley Leicester England Marr: 8 Sep 1799, St. Mary's, Hinkley, Leicestershire England Children:

Birth: Jan 1802, Hinkley Leicester England Death: 16 Jan 1892, no 1 Ireson's Yard Bapt: 25 Jan 1802, at St. Mary,
Hinckley Occ: stocking seamer. Thomas (ii) married Hannah in 1823 and I've (Hazel FRITH) traced 6 children. The
youngest was Thomas (iii) and I found the whole family on the 1851 cencus - Thomas (iii) aged 10 being described as
a stocking seamer. All the family were either framework knitters or seamers. I then lost trace of Thomas (iii)
until I found his marriage in Shoreditch, London to Elizabeth Mary West in 1864. He was the founding London Frith.
He had become a butcher by then. There were 8 children. The firstborn, Thomas William (Thomas iv) was born in Liverpool
Road, Islington in 1866. The fifth child, George, was my husband's grandfather). George married Annie and their
7th child was Thomas Alfred (known as Alf) (Thomas v). Alf's only child was Anthony Ronald Frith and our second
son, Thomas Alfred Frith, known as Tom (Thomas vi?) was also born in Liverpool Road, Islington in May 1957. We hadn't
known of the coincidental connection at the Time 1861 Cencus: All the family still at Priory Row but 20-year-old
Thomas is missing. Probably gone to London by then 1871 Census: Old man Thomas and Hannah, now 70 years old, still
at the framework knitting at Priory Row but now Mary and Maria gone. One of them married a Mr. Powell and went to live in
Burton on Trent but can't tell which one as the only sighting is of a Mrs. M. Powell. Still at home with mum and dad were
George and Sarah aged 46 and 36. Also members of household were grandsons William (11) and Thomas (8)- both surnamed Frith.
Can only speculate about these but I know a son Thomas was born in Hinckley Union Workhouse in Sep. 1863 to a Sarah Frith
(unmarried). 1881 Census: Thomas and Hannah, aged 80, still on the stocking frames at Priory Row. With them George
(55) unmarried, desc. as odd job man and grandson Thomas (17), shoe finisher by trade. 1884: Hannah (84) dies 30
December at Priory Row, Daughter M. Powell of Burton on Trent in attendance. 1892: Thomas dies on 16 Jan aged 90
at No.1 Ireson's Yard. His daughter Sarah in attendance, now named Mrs. Pratt, lived next door at No. 2. Spouse:
